How to make viewport faster?

How to accelerate Blender viewport? In this quick tip, we’re going to use Display Tools to boost viewport performance. Basically, we’ll turn double-sided lighting off to improve frame rate by a decent number – automatically and for many objects.

For example, on my 650m scene navigation gets much more fluent, from 5 fps to ~20-30 fps.

Basically, it’s the same procedure as turning Double Sided lighting off in Object Data menu, but more convenient for many objects at once and simpler to reach.

  1. Thanks! That’s one small click for a man, a giant leap for usability.

  2. heheh)) when discovered that double sided lighting affects performance so much, felt exactly like this 🙂 When threaded deps graph and other performance related stuff will appear somewhere in 2.70 – it’s gonna be another giant leap for mankind, I hope.

Material.
