<p>Struggling to choose between our Cinematic Lighting and EEVEE Realistic Lighting courses? In this video, we break down the key differences between these two to help you decide which course fits your workflow best &#8211; or if you should grab both.</p>

<span id="more-18103"></span>

<div class="youtube-responsive-container"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_mkbZE97HdY?si=zyQ6a5PDNRYCYmEn" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

<p><a href="https://superhivemarket.com/bundles/creative-shrimp-complete-lighting-bundle/?=ref88">Complete Lighting Bundle (15% off)</a></p>

<p>&#8212;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Breakdown</h2>

<p><a href="https://superhivemarket.com/products/cinematic-lighting-in-blender/?=ref88">Cinematic Lighting in Blender</a>: Our foundational course, now remastered for Blender 5.x. It focuses on Cycles, still shots, and the &#8216;photography&#8217; side of lighting &#8211; think light direction and quality.</p>

<p>Watch the <a href="https://www.creativeshrimp.com/reverse-key-lighting-tutorial.html">Reverse key lighting</a> freebie from this course:</p>

<div class="youtube-responsive-container"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jrCtpmdAhF0?si=v3nRG6H8izve5MIK" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

<p>&#8212;</p>

<p><a href="https://superhivemarket.com/products/eevee-realistic-lighting-rendering/?=ref88">EEVEE Realistic Lighting and Rendering</a>: A newer addition to the &#8220;Shrimpverse&#8221; that focuses on real-time rendering and animation. It’s more technical, teaching you how to master EEVEE’s specific settings and quirks to achieve high-end visual fidelity.</p>

<p>Watch the <a href="https://www.creativeshrimp.com/character-lighting-techniques.html">realistic character lighting techniques</a> freebie from this course:</p>

<div class="youtube-responsive-container"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6hPZ0ckL5I0?si=R3aUUxWSilqngjCB" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

<p>&#8212;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which one should you pick?</h2>

<p>Choose Cinematic Lighting if you want to create photorealistic still renders using Cycles. Choose EEVEE Realistic Lighting if you are interested in real-time workflows and animation.</p>

<p>Choose <a href="https://superhivemarket.com/bundles/creative-shrimp-complete-lighting-bundle/?=ref88">the Bundle</a> if you want the full picture. Taking both will give you twice the theory and a deeper understanding of how to light in both engines.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">FAQ</h2>

<p><strong>Q:</strong> Is there a knowledge overlap between these courses?</p>

<p><strong>A:</strong> Both courses feature a lot of lighting theory from photography and cinematography, thus there&#8217;s some overlap. That being said, I studied a lot in-between these courses &#8211; and my understanding of certain things got, hopefully, better. So there&#8217;s a lot of new bits of lighting theory explored and incorporated. And the old bits revisited.</p>

<p>&#8211;</p>

<p><strong>Q:</strong> If I already own one of these courses, can I still make use of the bundle offer?</p>

<p><strong>A:</strong> We value our community. If you’ve already purchased one of these elsewhere and want to complete your collection on Superhive or Gumroad, don&#8217;t worry, we&#8217;ve got your back on the pricing. Drop us a line.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.creativeshrimp.com/contact">https://www.creativeshrimp.com/contact</a></p>

<p>&#8211;</p>

<p><strong>Q:</strong> Which course shall I take first, CL or Eevee?</p>

<p><strong>A:</strong> Both. But if you have to choose, go with the remastered Cinematic Lighting first, as it&#8217;s the most fundamental out of the two. But nothing prevents you from checking the first chapters (that is, the Minerals and the Elevator Shaft, respectively) from these courses. See what gets you excited.</p>

<p>&#8212;</p>

<p>Even though we try to change nothing to make it as easy to follow along, that wouldn&#8217;t really be teaching a very good workflow in many cases. So! Here are some of the changes we often make to default Blender and why we make them. </p>

<p>By default <a href="https://www.blender.org/">Blender</a> is setup for the average user but while that causes the least amount of changes that need to be made, the perfectly &#8216;average&#8217; user doesn&#8217;t really exist. Blender is so versatile it couldn&#8217;t possibly really cater for everyone by default. </p>

<ul>
<li>In a rush? There&#8217;s a 2 minute quick runthrough of all changes at the start</li>

<li>GPU vs CPU vs CPU+GPU (See image below)</li>

<li>What Addon&#8217;s we tend to have always enabled.</li>

<li>Workbench settings</li>

<li>And more!</li>
</ul>

<div style="height:38px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1170" height="731" src="https://www.creativeshrimp.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Tilesize-with-BG-1170x731.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-15410" srcset="https://www.creativeshrimp.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Tilesize-with-BG-1170x731.jpg 1170w, https://www.creativeshrimp.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Tilesize-with-BG-720x450.jpg 720w, https://www.creativeshrimp.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Tilesize-with-BG-340x213.jpg 340w" sizes="(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Simple cube scene (shown in background of chart) using Blender 2.81 on Windows 10</figcaption></figure>

<p>Conclusion of render tests is that for the CPU 64 was best, for GPU 256 was best. AND! CPU &amp; GPU together at 64 were shown to be fastest overall.</p>
