<p>Hey folks, Gleb here! You know how important composition is, right? Well, here&#8217;s a neat <a href="https://www.blender.org/">Blender</a> trick to think about it in terms of light and shadow.</p>

<span id="more-17706"></span>

<div class="youtube-responsive-container"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bI6lZxFmtMc?si=D6iWpoMVbcwZm0SL" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

<p>We&#8217;re creating dynamic cloud shadows using a simple setup, but the artistic implications for your tonal arrangement are huge. It&#8217;s all about guiding the eye and creating a more compelling visual journey.</p>

<p>&#8212;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The key steps:</h2>

<ol>
<li><a href="https://www.creativeshrimp.com/reverse-key-lighting-tutorial.html">Angle your key light</a> (instead of leaving it flat) – brings out forms &amp; makes composition more interesting.</li>

<li>Add a “cloud shadow” plane – a big plane with a transparent shader + noise texture to break up uniform sunlight (even animate it with the 4D noise “W” value).</li>

<li>Balance with a soft fill light – to smooth harsh transitions &amp; reduce visual tension.</li>

<li>Go volumetric – replace the plane with a volume object for softer, more natural light scattering &amp; motivated shadows.</li>
</ol>

<p>This technique reshapes tonal values, adds compositional flow (even creating natural S-curves!), and makes your scene way more engaging. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/14.0.0/72x72/1f4a1.png" alt="💡" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
